DryBlend Jersey Polo 8800
The workhorse of the Gildan polo range: 198–203 g/m², 50 % cotton / 50 % polyester, ribbed collar, three-button placket with tone-in-tone buttons and a double-stitched hem. Jersey instead of piqué — the surface is smooth rather than textured, and it keeps its shape through frequent washing. White costs €5.87, the other in-stock colours €7.55; in 3XL it is €8.39 and €10.08 respectively (net).
Softstyle Piqué Polo 50109
The lightest of the four: 177 g/m² (white 172 g/m²), 100 % ring-spun cotton — the exceptions are sport grey (90/10) and dark heather (65/35). Fine piqué structure, ribbed collar, two-button placket and side seams. It is the polo for warm months and trade-fair teams, and with S to 4XL the one with the widest size range. White €6.71, coloured €7.64 (net).
Hammer Piqué Polo 50409
The heavy counterpart: 223 g/m² (white 214 g/m²), 100 % pre-shrunk cotton, double piqué, three-button placket, side vents and a printed neck label instead of a sewn-in one. With 29 shades it has the widest colour choice and carries embroidery best, because the dense double piqué barely gives. White €9.24, coloured €10.08 (net).
Softstyle Ladies Double Piqué 64800L
The same Softstyle base as the 50109 — 177 g/m², 100 % ring-spun cotton, ribbed collar — only the cut differs: slightly tailored, with a three-button placket and side seams. If you need team wear in one consistent look, combine 50109 and 64800L in the same base colours. Ten colours, sizes S to 2XL, white €6.71, coloured €7.55 (net).
Which finishing fits Gildan Polo shirts?
On polos the logo almost always sits on the left chest, and embroidery is the tool for that: it holds on all four models, looks more premium than print and is possible from 1 piece (digitising is charged on every order). The dense double piqué of the Hammer 50409 is the most stable ground; the light 50109 at 177 g/m² should be backed with stabiliser for large embroidery.
For multi-colour artwork or back lettering, flex printing is the alternative — on the smooth jersey of the 8800 it covers more evenly than on a textured piqué. Screen printing is available from 50 pieces and only pays off on polos in larger runs, because the print area is small.
